The Mille Lacs opener walleye bite was greeted with the sun out and the water warming up in the low 50’s on Saturday. I guided my wife Patty on a day of fishing on the north end of the lake. We worked some hard bottom areas that produced some slot fish for a fresh meal of walleye. The method was live bait rigging with a leech and cover some ground to you make contact. On Sunday the lake calmed down and so did the bite. I spent some time scouting over the weekend to get a feel for where the fish are this time of year for my upcoming guide trips.

                                Good luck out there.

Its nice to see some fishing related reports, I fished off of browns and did well in the evening in about 8-12 feet. nice slot fish with an occasional hog. Lots of rock bass too. Time to fish now that the drunks left!
