Here is my situation and I think there is no option but Ide like to see what you guys think.  Just two weeks ago I bought a Primos trail camera from Cabelas and set it up where I hunt in Faribault near Owatonna MN.  The property borders a river and unfortunately with all the rain we had the river flooded about 6ft and my camera was under water for a couple of days :bonk:  It is not working now (not surprised). Is it a loss, or is there anything that can be done? Just thought I would ask in case it ever happened to you all.  Thanks and hope you all are having a good season.

sorry to hear that but maybe check with the company that makes it and i doubt they will relpace it but might beable to fix it for a cheap price

There is likely to be a moisture sticker in it that will deter you from returning it as defective. If you can locate the moisture sticker and bleach it back to white you could maybe fool them.
But then again they are made to be outdoors so it might not have one. Wouldn't hurt to check though.

You have kind of an extreme situation (being under water for days).  But I would call or write a letter.  They should have a better seal on those camera's - they don't need to know it was under water.  Just tell them in was working fine before it rained.

Like I said - they don't need to know it was under water due to flooding.  It should be weather proof to moisture.

I agree with steiny, just bring it back to Cabelas and exchange it for another.  Simple process.

I have herd of guys dropping there cell phones in water.Then to dry them out they put them in rice for a week or so and they worked just fine.

Also have heard of submerging the soaked electronic gadget in isopropyl alcohol to displace the water. The damage supposedly happens when it dries, so if you can displace the water with alcohol, the alcohol dries completely and doesn't leave behind any harmful residue. Needs to go from the water to the alcohol right away.

    One other option is write the company and explain the situation.   Be honest and ask them for direction.  They are a top notch company and would likely help you out.  If they do share that with everbody.  If they don't  change brands.  Take some pics.  I have a freind that cut his extremely expensive fly rod in half the day he got it in the mail.  Ceiling fan.  He contacted them and they replaced it.  They did not have to but happy customers is what buisness is all about.

Great advice.  If they would exchange it, I would be happy with Primos and would think highly of them for helping meout when they didnt have to.  And if not I understand they are not obligated to.  Thanks again.

A couple of years ago I returned a Wildview game camera that I had received as a gift.  It quit working after being drenched by a hard rain.  The camera was purchased at Cabelas and there was no issue returning the camera.

I currently have four cameras on my property.  I have screwed a piece of sheetmetal above them in the tree to protect from direct downpours.  Even after a very heavy rain we had a couple of weeks ago, the cameras work great.

Most of the cameras are water resistant, not water proof which would be the reason yours quit working.
