ice on upper red lake
went up this weekend, and I must say... it's going to be sad fishing out there for a bit. We went out on the south side and found about 4-5 inches of good ice. with slush on top and snow.  And slush under the ice too. even when it was so cold, that slush wasn't freezing.  MY guess is you will not be driving out by new years.  the resorts have roads that they have been clearing and will probably have 8-10 inches of ice there, but good luck going ANYWHERE off the roads.  Not going to be a very mobile year up there this year.

Probably worth it to drive the extra hour and go to LOW.

oh, we caught 6 fish friday night and sat morning... they just weren't biting.

hope the ice gets better we are takin a trip up jan 15th for 3 days. last time i was there we hammered the giant crappies, but this time i want some eyes.
