The Walleye action out in our houses has been very good during the past week. Suspended Walleyes continue to be the trend. Often times in the past, heavy snow cover on the lake, like this year, would make for a slower winter season of fishing. It also seems during the heavy snow winters Walleyes are more often found suspended than winters with less snow cover. Now with Vexilars and other flashers becoming commonplace among the everyday angler, anglers are seeing all those suspended fish cruising by. A bonus with the suspended fish is they are usually willing to bite! The majority of the fish being caught up off the bottom are keeper size Walleye, with an occasional BIG Walleye mixed in. They have been showing up anywhere from 5-20 feet down the water column in over 31 feet of water. Most guests are catching many more Walleyes than Saugers, with the Saugers hanging tight to the bottom.

Our houses are still spread out deep in 31+ feet of water. Most of our day houses are 9-10 miles out on the lake. Our guides are continuing to slide our houses further and further out on the lake to keep guests on new schools of Walleye.

Weather wise, it looks like a cool week with daytime highs in the single digits for much of the week. It should be another great week of fishing on Lake of the Woods!

Fish ON!
