As the weather warms, spring fishing on the Rainy River is almost upon us.  The river is open just a few miles east of Birchdale.  It should be open here sometime in early April, depending on the weather.  We expect great fishing this spring and the summer should be phenomenal.  Book your reservations now before it’s too late!

As far as ice fishing goes, it started to pick up yesterday with a few Walleyes mixed in with the Saugers.  We’ve pulled our houses into about 25 to 28 feet, anticipating the migration of the fish to the river.  We have closed our plowed road due to muddy conditions at our access.  There is a good base of solid ice on the lake, and people are starting to bring up snowmobiles and four wheelers.  It looks like it’s going to cool down this coming weekend with highs in the 20s and lows near zero.  Cabins are still available for the remainder of March and into April.  We have pulled some of our houses but still plan on running our track vehicles at least through next weekend.

Sturgeon fishing will get underway here in April.  If you’ve never done it, it’s a wonderful experience.  Our April rates are $25 per person per night.  Call now for reservations.

FISH ON!
