well I was playing at work today while some reports were running (yes I run a desk all day).. stumbled onto an auction site that had a brownell oven for baking on gun finishes. did some of my doodiligents (asked the wife for permission) and figured out what a good price would be (called a gunsmith buddy out of state)... waited for the last 6 minutes (under 5 extends the auction) and booom... I got a oven for baking on finishes..

Sweet, I just happen to have an uncle in-law that wants me to refinish three of his old guns.  They're all in pretty rough shape.  I haven't done anything like that in about 20 years but I live close to Pine Tech and figured I could just clean and polish then send them down for re-bluing.

Can you do aluminum with that thing?  The single action 22 pistol I took apart has anodozing that's all worn off on the frame and ejector shroud.

any metal that can withstand being baked at 350 degrees for 60 minutes can be baked with that brownells oven paint.

thats a fun little shooter there. I just redid a couple of bolt action shotguns I should post some pics of. turned out nice considering the shape they were in. just need to find a few more rusty relics.

these last ones I did were rusty and pitted.. had a couple hours in the metal just stripping and buffing out the bad spots. 3 coats of brownells oven paint. (I'm a little dissapointed in the matt black, not as matt as I would like it too be. )

then the stock depending on minus repairs is a 30minutes to strip... stain the next day, then the next day 2 coats of poly, wet sand, final coat of poly.

easier then I thought it would be
