Cool photo: Barred owl goes out to lunch
Posted on April 4, 2011 by Sam Cook

Barred owl with freshly caught mole. (Sean Hall photo)

Sean Hall of Cloquet passed along this photo he captured in mid-March on one of his strategically placed trail cameras in the Cloquet area. Sean builds his trail camera systems himself, and this one is a six-megapixel model.

“A barred owl was waiting in the pines above my food-scrap-filled depression covered with pine boughs,” Sean wrote. “The mole was visiting to grab a snack when the owl swooped down and stunned the little guy with his talons and grabbed him around the neck with his beak.”

Sean said he had 10 photos in the series with the owl and the mole.
