WINTER, Wis. (AP) — State officials have reopened a state trail in northwestern Wisconsin after a storm sent trees crashing across it.

The 74-mile Tuscobia State Trail runs from Rice Lake to Park Falls. It cuts through parts of Barron, Washburn, Sawyer and Price counties.

The state Department of Natural Resources says a thunderstorm packing winds of up to 55 miles per hour hit the area last week. The storm toppled trees along a 30-mile section of the trail east of Winter.

Trail officials say they've removed the trees and the trail is safe again for all users.
