I just can’t believe the weather this season. It has been very wet and pretty cool for this time of year. I have just 2 1/2 ft before the water starts to come over the docks. We must be up at least 10 inches or better, and that is a lot of water in a lake this big. The fishing has not been affected by the high water as of yet, but with all of these different fronts moving in and out every couple of days, it is hard to get a program down on what the fish want and what they do want. I just turn to a bobber and say screw it until the weather settles down. There is nothing more deadly out here, than a very lively leech under a slip bobber. The lindy rigging is still producing fish out in front of the resort in 16 to 21 ft of water with either a leech or a crawler. They are taking a spinner with a crawler already, so that is a great sign for those of us who like to pull spinners.

There were five, seven gallon buckets full of fish guts from this weekend so it seems as though everyone that went out, caught fish this weekend, which is always a good thing. The water temps are still just 53 degrees, but with all of this cold rain and wind the water temps have not moved up but 3 degrees over the past 2 weeks. We will just have to wait and see what Mother Nature has in store for us this season, and we will just have to adjust to whatever it takes to catch them dang Wally Gators. The winds are howling out of the West at 35 to 45 mph as we speak and it feels like early September, but the forecast for the weekend looks absolutely great. I do have a couple of cabins still available for this weekend, so give me a call @ 320 532 3431 if you are looking for a really nice clean cabin, at a really clean Resort for this weekend.
