    • Fishing & Hunting South Dakota's Lake Oahe and Lake Sharpe
Fished the Wilke group from Omaha/ CB area to possession limits of walleye, smallmouth bass, 40 catfish, around 10 northern pike and some real nice crappie. With the high water we have been running into crappie by accident fishing for the other species and I think there are more of these in the lake than we think. We fished mainly in the Cheyenne river staying in 10ft. of water or less when the wind is blowing but caught them in 14ft.to 20 ft when it is calm. Crawlers are bait of choice but minnows work better for the smallmouth along with gulp/jigs. Fishing is very good in Cheyenne and up at Whitlock area and I am hearing about some catches at bush's landing but think that area a week or so away from main bite. One crappie was over 2 lbs. so maybe looking around for some action crappie fishing next spring might be a good choice.
