Fished the Doug Carlson group with Scott Van Lyre to possession limits of walleye (48) and a lot of real nice smallmouth and a few northern pike/catfish. These fellows were from all over Nebraska (Ainsworth, Leigh, Columbus, Omaha, etc.) and we all had a great time and caught a lot of fish. Pulled some plugs (Berkley Flicker shads and Mann's go tos) and caught some on bttm/bouncer/crawlers all in around 25 to 30 fow. Along with there limit's of walleye I kept mine too as they agreed to have the Outpost Lodge cook them up for appetizers and we all had a real nice fish fry every night. Anytime my customers indicate they want to eat some fish I usually keep some of the smaller fish that are looking a little stressed for my limit and my customers enjoy eating fresh fish along with me and still are able to take there possession limit home. I wrote this somewhat in response to the fellow who wrote in wondering if I eat a lot of fish as I keep my limit a lot of the time. I do eat a lot of fish usually with the people I am guiding and both of the Lodges (Spring Creek Marina and The Outpost Lodge) do an excellent job of preparing them. Salmon fishing slow/ northern pike deeper and some walleyes feeding on suspended smelt/bait in open water. A lot of fish in submerged tree's and harder to catch. The weather has been nice on the lake most days when there is a breeze but can be hot if wind dies down. Take along a good supply of water and stay hydrated. You might consider leaving a little earlier in the morning to beat the afternoon heat.
