  • Leech lake guide, Walker, Mn.

From reports from my contacts this is what's going on now on Leech lake.

The feed in the lake was large lots of minnows and rusty crawfish perch which slowed the fishing after opener. Its starting back up with the cool down it only gets better till ice.

The bite lately has been in Walker bay on the deep humps and from cedar Pt to sand pt. jig and minnow bigger minnow the better. If the weather stays warm a lindy and crawler will work. Work the Walker bay area and look to the east and south in the bay on those humps.

I havent been out for a couple weeks working on a Motor Hm to go to Alaska next year. When I get done Ill be walleye fishing until the ice keeps me off the lake the fall bite on leech is usually real good.

Areas to try in the fall up by Goose and the big hardwoods work the windy shores and pts that should keep you busy. Perch should be going up in the narrows and over in Kabegona bay and steamboat. Good Luck

Also big Muskie tourney today till Sun. on leech and other lakes. Frank Sch. tourney.

Also I put the Trail cam out yesterday and caught this buck sneeking by my stand for bow opener. Friend coming to hunt but he can't shoot the young bucks QDM.

Any word on the east side?  I hope to try Battle and Bear in a week.  Is the jig minnow bite kicking in yet?

I talked with some friends of mine they were fishing the same area last weekend. Sugar Point, 5 mile & Ottertail Point did them good. jig & minnow were the ticket
