Has anybody ever had any close calls on falling through the ice or had their vehicle go through?

I had this older 3/4 ton Chev and was pulling my fish house out to my favorite spearing spot. I had a guy with me that never been on the ice a whole lot and all of a sudden you could feel the back end of the truck drop down. The guy started screaming we are going through and jump out the door. He had me so excited that I jumped out too.

There I stood on the ice with the truck still in drive stuck in a slush pocket and my buddy running back to dry ground. After a little jacking and some wood planks I got the truck free and the fish house put in place.

One crazy badger stuck in a gopher hole.

Can't say I went through but used to drop into the ice at least once a yr. That when I was in the bait business. Usually it was in the spring and similar to you I'd find a slush hole. Always managed to get out under the power of the truck. Still ain't no fun crawling thru the door window.

Cept for one time I couldn't get out and needed a jerk. Let me tell you it's not easy to find someone to go onto ice an pull you out when ur sinkin thru. I found a buddy who'd rolled his truck 3 months earlier and really didn't give a hoot.

Walking have fell thru many times while trappin. Usually in a beaver run, so never in more than 4 FOW. Still scary thou as until you hit bottom u think you'll go under this time.
