A fishing buddy of mine's wife asked for some help picking out an onboard charger for him for Christmas. I'm wondering if any of you have any useful advice or experience you can pass on to me, to pass on to her. Of course I'll take full credit for your sound advice.

Thanks!

Get a big enough one.  The one I have on my boat won't fully charge 2 batteries over night.  It's ok if your not going fishing every day, but if you're on a trip it's nice to have full batteries every morning.

I agree with The General. Also don't try to spare the $$$$$ unless you can find a good brand name one on sale. I have Minnkotas on my boats and never been let down.

Thanks guys. Funny thing, I was just talking with her, she said, "It sounds too complicated, I'm just going to get him a gift card."  So... another angler will have a card full of money to pursue his dreams. We can all feel proud of that.

Merry Christmas!
