just picked up 5 bags of 7.5's plus 8#'s of powder and 3k primers. just need to stock up on some wads and I should be set for this years shooting season when it gets going. the lead was from a buddy who decided he wasn't going to shoot anymore.. 30$ a bag. not too bad a deal.

any other shooters out there getting ready for the year?

I cranked up the mec 9000 last week and turned out a few boxes, but I plan on buying 10 or 12 cases from Reeds this spring if they have the federal top guns for $49.99 a case again.

watch wallmart.. i've seen the topguns there every once in a while they'll dip to 4.79. but it's only about a case or two at a time they put out.

I'll try to knock out a case this weekend, I didn't reload at all last year. I managed to run out of everything at the same time. no powder no primers no lead.. usually I end up with a stock pile of one or the other so it doesn't seem like your buying everything at once. I'll have to do some math and find out what my cost is this year.

I saw them at Wally world last fall, but the ones at $4.79 were only 1 oz loads.
Doesnt really make a big differance though.

My loads are close to the factory AA Winchester, using 18.5gr of clays, red dot,or green dot with AA hull, claybuster AA copy wad,and either Federal or Winchester primer ,and 1-1/8 shot.

Should be about 1275 fps with presures up to 11,000psi depending on the combanation of hull, wad, powder and primer used.

That is cheap for shot. I think it is about 40 bucks now. Don't know why its so expensive. Maybe they are trying to get everybody to shoot steel. I have never figured it out to see if it is cheaper to reload or not. I still reload.

found a couple bags of reclaimed I bought a few years back... I mixed it 50/50 with some of the new stuff.. figure this is plenty good for league and practice.. don't think I would use it in a tournament. man that reclaimed was pretty dusty. I ended up filling the jug in the garage with a mask and then letting it all settle. don't want to risk sucking a bunch of lead dust into my lungs. ended up with about 900 reloads this weekend.

The mad scientist returns!!!!!!  Sweet!

I'm going to shoot again this year so we should start getting the boys back on the wagon.  I don't know about the state shoot yet the league is a go for sure.

We struggled to middle of the pack.  I think we were down to myself, Thunderpout, Ken 1, Ken 2, and Pat.  Finances took the rest of the guys out.  I have contact info for TP and Cody.  I think I still have your number as well.

Very true.  Get your shells ready and let's start some serious planning for the season.  PM me with ideas since I check email more than I do here for now.

Boy have I beenoutta the loop for a bit on reloading. That is price wise. I don't shoot trap but am glad I had the money 20yrs ago when an opportunity came up. Only problem is I'm running outta the stuff I need like lead #2 an up. Biggest one is buckshot, now I see they sell it in #3 sacks/jars. It appears that they don't want it to be affordable for one to reload anymore, but at the the price they want for a box??? Guess I thought I got enough to last a lifetime but was wrong.

the trick is to not run out of the stuff at the same time.
