Lee  U seem pretty confident!  You are forgetting October is when the majority of BIG Trophy Walleye are caught in Minnesota and elsewhere...

I'm not forgetting anything corn. It's just that I've been taking confidence lessons from Willy over the years and I want to see if it really pays off if you get my drift. Don't forget this is the smackdown thread. So, now that we have got that out of the way do you just want to send me that knife now instead of waiting.

Corny, short sleeves was 3 or 4 days ago... then all you guys started talking about ice fishing. Took me a week to get my photo back from my amateur photographer.

And of course Lee is always nervous... as I understand he lives with the sultaness of swat.

Been getting some good action lately in 25-40+ FOW, lost a large pike, caught three walleye (two 6+ lbs, and one over 9 lbs), and a lot of smaller pike up to 9 lbs, but none quite big enough to upgrade.
Sooner or later it'll happen!

  Gearing up and getting ready for  the best fishing of the year.  This is the stuff you read about.  Shorter days, dropping temps, and the chance for big, big  fish.  The lines have been reversed on the reels.  The ATI-51s have had bigger hooks attached.  Up for grabs is the 2012 fishing challenge, the Leech lake fillet knife and a chance to enter the MNO Hall of Fame.  The rod tip repairs are done.  Good luck to any members that are still hanging in there.  No team has reached 90 inches yet so it  is still game on.  In the history of the MNO Fishing Challenge we have never had two teams break 90 inches.  This could be the first.

Well sports fans, times running out for those teams trying to jockey for position as the calendar seems to be racing towards the 31st. Wind, storms, and low water conditions at the boat launches aren't making it any easier to get on the water. I'm hoping to get out at least once next week. I'll have to admit those 3 inches between 1st and second place feels like 12 inches.

    The Avengers are still  .  My partner burned up his motor looking for that 40' pike.  I boated two over 30' this weekend with at least one more shot at it if the weather holds.  That leech lake fillet knife is still on the agenda too.

Yesterday while trolling for pike I got a big slam on the rod in my holder. I quickly reeled up the other rod (Wisconsin) that I had in my hand so I could grab the one in the holder. The drag was singing 2/40. I threw the boat in neutral before I got spooled.

Trying to keep up with this monster wasn't paying off so, I threw her in reverse and tried to make some headway chasing this fish down. Just as I managed to make enough headway to be right over the top of this pike it made a power run.... and and and......I went over the side.....rod in hand. I was not to be denied and hung on as she swam towards a sunken car.  Whoosh! it swam right into the open car window. Now I new I had it cornered. Just as I was about to swim through the window and declare victory the pike pushed the power window button and the fight was over.
