Anyone have pet insruance for their hunting buddy?

When we found out Mandy had cancer the U of M doctor asked if we had insurance.

I had thought about it a few times but dismissed it as a waste of money

That doctor said if we had insurance that covered canser, the bill would be covered accept for any deductable or percentage of pay out differance.

I seen Cabela's has a company it recamends and my new vet said she has a couple in mind.

So I was just wondering if anyone else has bough it and what company it is with.

interesting question. I do not have it.  if anyone does.. could you also list a ballpark on what it's running and what it covers?

Interesting.  I have never even heard of it.  Just reading it hear. but if it isn't REALLY cheap I'm on the fence but leaning towards it being a waste of money.

im guessing its pricy because a dogs normaly only live 10-15 years some higher depending on breed

30-60 dollars a month depending on plan and deductible. If you have a hunting dog where he or she is being used a lot or a breeding dog it might be worth looking into. As a blown knee might cost you some serious money to get repaired. If it is a house pet I would think you are better off keeping your money and being smart about shots and making yearly office visits.  Pet insurance has been around since the early 80's

I suppose if you have a show dog or something.we spent around 1200 on the last lab when he was at his end game. but I've explained to my dog that she's not to do anything stupid or she may end up at the "farm".  so far this ones been listening to that advice

With Mandy the canser issue cost me around $1000 to find out that another surgery costing $2500 was the only option and it would take her front leg off at the shoulder. So it would have ended her hunting unless it was a very easy walk in an open field situastion.

The companies I found online are running $25 to $55 for deductables of $100 and 90% pay out with illness and accadents covered.
