I don't know who will be picking it out this year.  I'm glad it's not me. I had to pick the ice challenge staple item. I learned my lesson there.  Other than BB getting hit by his partner, Wildlife's flying lid, not many problems occurred. I think we should get this out of the way before the actual item is announce. I am willing to offer a couple of suggestions.  My first thought was a bowling ball but that doesn't have anything to do with fishing.   Naturally that lead me to my next choice of a tattooed night crawler.  Keep that baby alive. Get him in the photo(in focus) and your fish too.  Feel free to enter suggestions here.  Be prepared to have your suggestion ripped to shreds.  :sorry: If we end up using it there just might be a small prize in it for you.   :whistling: ;)

That won't work.  I used mine to make a little hat complete with an elastic chin strap.  I sent it to the General and told him it's a chick magnet. He had it made until he added the  :censored: feather. :rotflmao:

DDS I could put on a pair of your skid marked whitey tighties and they would instantly become a chick magnet.  Some people like me just have it.  I know you, BB, and Willy have your way with the voluptuous and full figured women but as luck would have it they aren't that fussy.   :rotflmao: :rotflmao:

Really? you going to haul around a clay target n your boat to take a picture with? You keep it simple and have something that is common and handy. The purpose of the staple item is to clearly show the fish is caught this season. My suggestion for this year is just a key.

                      Why reinvent the wheel?

I'd say the Bobber, Spinner bait, or Daredevil all worked well. They won't blow away and the sun won't reflect in the photo like the white lid. To make it look fresh just add one number on it or letter. Just keep it simple and use common sense. :whistling:

I seen that in some of the pics from 2008 people had a copy of the current regulation book next to their fish. I think that is a pretty good Idea and it will make sure that we all have a copy of the regs with us at all times on the water.

:sorry: The rules book in the picture was not an acceptable staple item at the time.   :doah: The rules book has a few problems with it. It is paper, which means it does not handle wind, rain and snow well.   :snow5: The staple item has a very simple function which is to identify the fish as being caught this year.   :Fish: It is not suppose to cost you money to go out and purchase but be a common item that can be easily had. The MNO was added to the staple item to add visual advertisement to the fishing Challenge being a MNO sponsored event. I actually like Wild's idea of a cigarette lighter  :campfire:  a cheap bic with MNO on it would fill all the criteria of being cheap, handy and weather proof  :coffee: Of course this will remain a secret as the staple item will not be known till the challenge starts.

Thanks Bobby, paper not  good!!  It can all so be a old lighter that dose not work, We all know some one that smoke and can ask for a old one so it would cost nothing.
I would like to add what wherever you pick should have the date on it like what DDS pick, But I know the smaller the staple item it harder to put more letter or # on it as this would make it hard for the judges to read in the photos.

Please keep this in mine wherever you pick  should be easy for all player to get and cost one dollar or less and can stand the weather wind rain snow and not to big that you can't get it in the photo, like the light or

A bigger fishing weight like a 4 oz with white MNO on it or a old spooled of line  :happy1:

                                              IMHO :help:

Is it just me or are there more lamebrain suggestions on this thread than in the smackdown thread?   The problem with asking for everyone's opinion is that everyone thinks that their suggestion is actually the perfect one. I'll be glad when HD is able to announce the actual staple Item. Even though he can't announce it yet he could announce that he's made a final decision. :happy1:

I know some of the suggestions are just for a fun joke :rotflmao:.  Butttt, most of them are serious recommendations and that's scary stuff.:banghead:  Are you sure some of you guys don't work for our government? :bonk:

Wow are some of you people touchy. It could not get simpler or less expensive for a staple item to be a reg book or a photo with a fishing license. But with these things on a yearly basis it would be easy to photo a pre season fish. Perhaps there should be a seperate item to register a bass given at the time of that opener.  Probably the best staple item ever would be a fawkinnae waterproof sticker that has a ruler built into it. But I think Bobby would not go for that because he would want to use his Obama 2012 yes we did sticker.

Sorry Ken if you know anything about me I do not discuss politics, sorry trying to get a rise out of me over an Obama sticker ain't going to work. I will address your ideas, Handbook is paper, paper don't do well in wind, rain or snow. Some of us fishermen actually do fish in that kind of weather. Fishing license was discussed and rejected because some people do not like their personnel information posted on the Internet. Not to mention it would suck if your fishing license blew away. I have no impute into the selection of the staple item I just help make the original rules and created the fishing challenge. It is suppose to be for fun and some people can't leave well enough alone and try to make it difficult. Who ever posted about letting people help decide what the staple item should be and that everyone thinks there idea is the best hit it on the head. I think everyone should have a picture of my dog Duncan alongside the fish as a staple item, I will sell pictures for 14.95 shipping included. :Photography:  :rotflmao:
