Looking for input from you guys on how old you think this is.  Of interest is the base of the antlers.  They look way to big for a young deer.  Also, it has a bit of a hump on the shoulders. If this is an old deer in decline, I would probably shoot it but I'm not sure.  What do you think and why?

Deadeye, nice pictures of the buck.  I think he's either a 1.5 or a 2.5 year old with good genes.  He has nice wide/thick bases and in a few more years could turn out to be a nice shooter.  Just my opinion.

Still looks leggy. Not much of a rear end. Stomach is smaller. Longer face. I think he 1.5. Gonna be a really nice buck if he lives for 2-4 years

1.5. He will be a stud in a couple 2 or 3 years.  Hopefully he stays close to home and doesn't wonder onto your neighbors land

We get 2.5 year olds up here that look like that. Typically they're small spikes the first year. So it's either that or a stud 1.5 year old.

I would say 1.5 I would really doubt a 2.5 unless the deer in your area Are very small. But definitely would let him go a few more years

I would go with Cody, 2.5 years old for both.  Maybe a closer front shot at the top one could reveal a 3.5 year old.

To me age really doesn't matter. It's weather or not they seem to be a mature deer which these are not yet. I would give them a couple years personally, but these deer need at least one if not two more years before they are "mature bucks".

I believer Bonecollector82 got it right about the velvet being deceiving.  Here is a picture of I believe the same buck without velvet.  Now he looks 1.5 years old.

I guess that can happen.  Serves them right for having spikes instead of a visible set of antlers.   :rotflmao:

You guys may be right.  I was going by the fork on his left antler and non on the right.  However, the antlers do look shorter than the other picture.  I will check some other photos to verify.
