Around what time of the year do you start using estrus scents? Any special tactics you use when using estrus scents?

From past experience, I know that if you use them now, does will flee from the scent.

I'd wait until I knew that the rut was going.

A couple years ago my buddy put some scent on a low tree branch on opener and shot a real nice 11 pointer who was checking it out. Not sure if it was a fluke or what but the buck was definitely interested in it.

in the past I have used it during the rifle season and had no sucsess. I just save my money and just hunt the wind. I might be missing out but I am also saving money every year.  :nerd:

I have had really good luck with estrus during rut.  I tie a sock with estrus on it to  a short rope then drag it behind me on my way to my stand i walk the path i want the deer to walk out to and in front of my stand then i leave it sit were i want the buck to stop. :green archer:

Everything I've read about the non frozen estrus scents says they are worthless.
