chippewa national forest

Does anybody or has anyone hunted the chippewa national forest that can pinpoint a location that has particularly good deer hunting? What about the tamerac NWR area?

i've been a frequent visitor of the chippewa national forest since 1965. what area are you looking to go to????????? we have a cabin in the talmoon spring lake area.

 and my only real suggestion is you may need to go up in an area and just check it out. theres lots of hunters up there. just gotta look where eveyone else is so ya dont invade someone elses turf!

We're near remer and what glenn57 says is true. Some people feel that they own parts of the chip just because they have permanants built and have hunted an area for years.   I've been told be a few guys that I'm hunting on their lease or land which I found hilarious because I know they are all full of it. You will also run into some very nice people that ar more than willing to share a swamp or ridge with you.  Good luck and be safe.  Check out cass counties web site and use the interactive maps for tree varieties and topography.  Find a dozen good looking spots on your computer and then use boot leather to narrow it down.

I also hunt this region but for ducks and grouse. However, I am there for 7 weeks straight. I am usually in the Squaw Lake area. The area does get quite a bit of traffic but as dakids said I'd narrow your area down with leather. I have been seeing a lot of does and yearlings lately where I am but last year I had seen more bucks then any other year of hunting up there. If you'd like, pm me and lmk where you might be thinking and I might be able to give you some info if I'm familiar with the area.

hey fireranger how far east of squaw lake do you venture???? we do get that way once in a while.

 they sure do have some pretty scenery, no not girls, out on  the grant in aid snowmobile trails!!!! every visit the crow bar or the hill???????

Not too far east at all...more of a west/south/ and a little north. And yes I have been known to visit such establishments , in fact I can gaurantee that I will be at the Hill at some point in time this weekend , you know the annual Firemen's Ball in Squaw Lake is Saturday... ...I'm hoping to get up in time for legal Sunday morning in the swamp..

no i didnt know about the firemans ball. i will be up the following weekend, the 27 28th. good luck up there, especially the sunday morning gig!!!!!!!!
