It's totally up to you if you are happy with the deer go for it and if anyone tells you different i would personally tell them to  :censored: off.  Yea they will probably be bigger next year but then again they will be bigger the year after that to.

It all depends on circumstances.  If you're primarily a meat hunter, then by all means shoot.  If you're a horn hunter but taking it with a pointy stick, again I say shoot except during rifle season I'd pass.  I only say that because it's much harder to get deer, especially big bucks, with a bow and arrow than it is with a rifle.  To put it another way, I've shot much bigger deer than that with a rifle but at the same time that would be bigger than anything I've ever shot with a bow.  If I could chalk it up as my biggest bow kill, then I'd shoot.

I feel fortunate to be a hybrid meat/horn hunter since I still hunt in a "managed" area and can take a meat deer (doe) and then go after a bigger buck.  Every year I cross my fingers when the regs come out but so far my luck has held and my area is still on the list.  I'm sure it won't last forever though....

Onin24Eagle hit it on the head.  There are always reasons to shoot or not shoot a specific deer.  This is what makes hunting fun and exciting for each of us.  Although I like to shoot a deer as much as the next guy, I also enjoy letting them walk by.  Sometimes it just feels right.

  • Are we hunting or fishing today?
Depends on genetics and buck to doe percentages in the area i know a lot of people that this would be a wall hanger for them. in the area I gun hunt this would be above average 20 miles north where I bow hunt just the opposite. My vote is Pass   :archery:  baby all the way the close encounters will keep your adrenalin flowing.

Hunting is not life and death. It is more important than that.
