Do doe fawns breed?
Do buck fawns breed?

I was talking to a non-hunter about the deer he has on his property and he asked if doe fawns breed. My guess would be yes if it is a early spring fawn, no if it is a late spring fawn.

Thoughts?

I would have to say yes. The farmer I have bought my fawns from was telling me one year he had a buck and doe fawn in a pen together, both about 7 months old, and come spring the doe had a fawn. So I see no reason why it's no possible. Anything can happen I guess.

Yes the early fawns will breed that is why we have a second and sometimes third "rut" it is also because not all does got bread first go around. As far as fawn bucks i believe they are able but probably dont get much opportunity to with other bucks around.

Early fawns that reach 60-70 pounds will come in to heat at 6-7 months. If there are breeding bucks left in the area then it will be bred and have a fawn when it is just over 12 months old.

I just stumbled across this.I have a book called whitetail.Got it years ago it says breeding occures at the second year of life when the fawns are 17-19 months old on average.it lists rut as Late Oct-Nov.A second rut will occure about the end of Nov. It also states a third rut is rare but does happen depending on where your located in the US,Mostly southern states.Young bucks are able to breed their 2nd year if given the chance.

In a healthy balanced herd they will not breed.
