Favorite course

Hello all ! Are there any golfers out there? and what is your favorite course?  Mine is Grand National in Lutsen Minnesota. Its a beautiful course with lots of woods waterfalls and rivers.  Its is always tuff for me to have to pick from golf or fishing because I enjoy them both.

This is a tough question.  I guess the best one I have been to in the last couple of years is Baker National.  I don't get to golf as much as I would like to anymore so I have not been to many different places in the last couple of years.

Not my favorite, but my home course is Prestwick in Woodbury Mn. This course was rated the #1 public course a couple years ago.

Minneapolis Golf Club and Baker Nat are 2 other great courses.

I enjoy the Links at Northfork, in the fall..twilight rate.  It's a bit more affordable that way.   Two Harbors has a real nice course with some pretty views of Superior and very affordable.

But my absolute favorite golf course is Wendigo in Grand Rapids.  I highly recomend Wendigo.

For the past 5 years, we've golfed the Grand Slam of golf in Grand Rapids.  Playing 3 rounds of golf; Eagle Ridge, Sugarbrooke and Wendigo (twice, buying the fourth round) in a weekend while staying at the Americinn in Grand Rapids for under $250.

The links is a nice.  It is a long course so if you don't like walking you better rent a cart there.

MT net That sounds like a good time .Here in Duluth in July the local courses are leases from Friday through Sunday by the Fondulac Band of Ojibaway.( sorry for the spelling) So 16 for us guys stay at a friends hunting shack At split rock light house area Friday we golf Silver bay its a real nice 9 hole course Sat we play grand national at lutsen last year we played 45 holes then on Sunday we played lake view national in Two harbors. What a great weekend I look forward to it every year.

Grandpa jack, I played Silver Bay many a time, it's a nice course, same with Two Harbors.?

You should head to Rapids sometime and give Wendigo and Eagleridge a try.? the back 9 on Eagle ridge isn't all that great, but the front 9 is fun and challenging.

And in July, you may have Sugarbrooke almost to yourself during the late afternoon.? Most people that stay at the resort are swimming, boating, BBQ'ing.? Otherwise they tend to hole hop.? Get the twilight rate and cart.? We usually get 22 to 25 holes in before dark, 4 guys playing best ball.


And we have a sleeve of pink ladies golf balls.? Loosers of the hole have to use them pink flying ladies on the next hole.? ?:D

MT! thanks for the idea of the pink balls I have a big golf outing this weekend and I will have to use that idea on the gang.

I agree that Superior National is a very scenic track.  I've been lucky, my father's cousin is their superintendent and I usually make a trip up every summer (I was also born in Grand Marais).  During a typical round of golf you'll see plenty of wildlife.  The last time I played there a course ranger stopped by our group to inform us that there was a mother black bear with two cubs a couple fairways over.  Thanks for the warning anyway pal!  As far as public golf goes I still like The Classic.  The conditions haven't been "up to par" in the past few years there but when they are this course is well worth $100 a round.  You'll notice that if you're playing the correct tees for your ability, everything is placed perfectly.  Kudos to Scott Hoffmann, Madden's superintendent and course designer, for this.
