The new breed of Winchester lever action rifles.... whats your take?

what do you guys think of the new winchester lever action rifles that are being made once again by Winchester after a short hiatus....? so far most of them are kind of retro guns, but they have plans to enlarge the line up.... I know they get alot more than they did before for them, but the more basic models will be a bit less expensive.  Beautiful guns, but I wonder what the idea was behind discontinuing making them for a spell.... Im guessing it was about $$$ as things usually are.....

from what ive noticed from remington and winchester, they starting to go back to retro, remington came out/coming out with the A5 new and improved with the classic look. and now winchester with the lever action......must be part of the new FAD because the same thing for camo and other things are going back to retro

i think they just like to cycle the product line from time to time.. make people want em more or something like that. I don't know..

 personally i've been thinking i would like a nice single shot rifle.. like a ruger #1 or a browning 1885... thinking 243.. something I can dial in... but I don't think any of the big guys make em and all the custom shops want all my money and a kidney

TC makes really nice single shots, interchangable barrels as well. very accurate

I love our two a5s one Japan and one Belgium both sweet guns and shoot as straight as the shooter

I think yer probably right Beeker.... I think Browning bought Winchester, and may have consolidated their MFG location.... when they removed the Win. levers from production, they probably saved some big bucks in that downtime, and in doing that kind of created a "want" if you will, so when they started bringing some models back, they'd sell better and I know they are getting more for the newer rifles so yeah its a marketing move.... genius maybe, if the plan doesnt bite them in the you know what..... When Winchester removed the lever guns, I was in the market for a larger bore lever gun.... ended up buying Marlin Guide gun & tricked it out with a HD military peepsite set and an oversized lever so you can cycle rounds easy with gloves on.... sweet MN brush gun....but I still think it'd be cool to get a new Win. in a historical caliber... a few Ive seen have the octogan barrel, the old brass curved "recoil pad" and that kind of case-hardened finish.... yep..... the old John Wayne model....

did you ever get that gun "painted"??? I traded my oven... and almost feel kinda bad for what I got for it.  a sig 1911 xtm... new.. had to ship the oven to a dealer out east.. but it was worth it..

Ah yeah, the Rem 870 re-do..... turned the ole abused all purpose turkey gun into tactical turkey gun from hell!   put XS winged military ghost ring peep sights(tritium front) Blackhawk telescoping stock & forend, oversized safety button, hi-vis orange follower in the magazine, a two shell extension on the mag and a barrel/mag clamp w/a rail mount for a lite or lazer...(put a sure-fire flashlite on it)  & you'll laugh at this , but it really worked, I used high temp flat black engine paint on most of the gun with a bit of O.D. green duck boat paint on the reciever.... it wasnt a blued gun, its one of the older express models with that polymer wrinkle finish that was really screwed up from past tape & paint camo attempts.... but yeah, long story short, I put a few hundred into it, patterned a few different turkey chokes in it, and its a killer turkey gun out to 60 yds easy... even with a really short 18" bbl..... also an awesome self defense gun for camp or home..... really cool gun that was brought back from the dead!
