Hey Guys and Dolls, anyone around here do any sucker or carp spearing? I'm interested in doing some smokin'. I've smoked suckers before but have talked to a few guys lately that smoke carp and say it's pretty dang good. Any tips pointers etc. would be appreciated on where, how, when you name it I'm an empty book...in a manner of speakin' ;) and my pen is full of ink...also in a manner os speakin'. ;D Thanks!

when I was younger we would go down by the cannon river in cannon falls.. just below the dam was alway good.. we used the bow.. or a spear.. also off of 13 in mendota was a bunch of river pools and some old dnr stock ponds.. those were always good. we would just walk until we saw fins... the old 35 bridge in burnsville was good too.. but I kept loosing my freakin arrow down there..

I shoot I'm in maple grove but bowfishing them all over the north metro and would be willin to meet up with you and give you carp

Don't shoot to many suckers trying to find a lake with more suckers in it tho

what is the size of carp you usually get? they say that you should stay away from the big ones due to all the toxins and mercury and chemicals and stuff.

I shoot from like 5 pounders to lower 30s
I have heard the smaller ones taste better as well
