My son and I went out for the 1st time for the early youth season.  This afternoon he harvested a 12 point 200 lbs buck(main frame 10 with stickers on both G2's).  His biggest so far.

He was busy freshening up a scrape 70 yards out before my son caught sight of him.  He made a good broadside, just a tad high, that penetrated the upper lobe of the lung and broke the shoulder on exit.  The deer hunched at the shot, then ran downhill for 20 yards before stopping.  He stood there about 10 minutes flicking his tail and looking around.  Worried he wouldn't go down, I had Josh shoot him a 2nd time, which dropped him in his tracks.  1st shot would have eventually done him in it turned out, but very glad I had him take the anchoring shot to be sure it was down for good.

Very happy young man!

Hunting is not life and death. It is more important than that.

That's a big one for sure.  I'll bet the kid still has a smile on his face. Congrats to you guys.

The zones are listed on the DNR site.  It is primarily in the SE and NW areas of the state I believe.   In SE they also have several localized does only zones where anyone can do antlerless hunts the same for days...It's always over the 4 day MEA weekend.

I know that 345 and 346 in SE are open, as these are the zones I hunt, but I didn't pay attention to what other ones there were.

Definitely some giants down in the Winona area, I know lots of people with Farms down there that they hunt, of course they will let me hunt out there... but only if I take a doe  :bonk:
