I had one last chance to fish for a couple days with Wyofish in North Dakota, so I decided I better seize the opportunity and get my butt up there. Despite the less than ideal weather conditions we decided Friday and Saturday would be the least miserable days to fish.

I shut down the world headquarters at noon on Thursday (I know what your thinking, little kids in Africa will be running around naked with no one to fill their Fawkinnae t-shirt orders) and headed north and west... some call it northwest. I arrived in Towner, ND about 8pm that night.

We decided to fish Devils Lake based on fishing reports Wyo had received. Friday morning was 35 degrees and overcast with a combination of snow and sleet falling. Oh yeah it was windy too. Forcast was for more snow that evening. When we got to Devils Lake we decided to pick up some minnows which turned out to be a good thing. The morning fishing was a bit on the slow side but we were getting a few fish. Pike and walleyes but nothing big. We alternated between cranks and jig/minnow presentations. Although it was cold we were reasonably comfortable. Around mid-day the sky started to turn nasty and the wind would alternately blow, blow hard, let up and repeat. The nasty looking clouds mostly stayed either north or south of us. We finally baled about 6 pm.

Friday night we dropped in at the Rafter Bar and the bartender agreed to give Wyofish some bartending lessons.

We expected the weather to be worse Saturday morning but instead woke up to a very cold but clear blue sky - 25 degrees. By the time we got to the lake I think it was all the way up to 32 degrees. We decided to try out a part of the lake Wyo had never fished before. 6 mile bay. Took an extra half hour to get there. Things started out slow, we fished around a couple other boats and no one appeared to be catching anything. Then we started working our way north and looking for fish. We finally found a very interesting point after an hour or two and things started to get interesting. It produced the 2 nicer fish, a 23" and Wyofish's 27" upgrade. We caught a half dozen northerns and probably another 6 or 8 walleyes. We kept 5. The bigger fish were released.

That's it. Two fun interesting days fishing with my best friend. Doesn't get any better than that.

Fawkinnae neglected to mention his nice 31" Pike on Saturday. Great couple days of fishing. We both noticed how fat and healthy all the walleyes we caught were. Even the 15"ers provide a nice fillet.

The 31" was not quite enough to upgrade Prosupermag's pike.

I noticed Wyofish's silverware drawer leaned far to the right, so I asked him, "Have you been talking to Lee?"

Perhaps a little redistribution is in order.    :doah:

Sounds like a great time.  I'm guessing Lee tried negotiations with Fawk for that Northern, however Fawk is on no terms negotiating with terrorists/hostage takers/etc.  So Lee you are on your own for a Northern upgrade.   :rotflmao: :rotflmao: :rotflmao:

P.S. Lee you should have sent the Bar Tender in to talk negotiations she probably could have gotten farther.  :whistling:

Some of you may have noticed "The Ultimate Storm" - BEHIND - Wyofish in the top two photos.
Clearly that was no coincidence.
