BEMIDJI — Mayor Rita Albrecht will be leaving her job at the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwa to take a job as a planner for the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources. :police:

Albrecht said Wednesday she had accepted the DNR position, but not yet officially signed a contract. She will start next week.

“It’s a career move for me,” she said. “I’ve worked in city planning, and I’ve worked at the Headwaters Regional Development Commission in regional planning and I’ve worked in tribal planning, so this is an opportunity to work in state planning.”

The DNR position of District 1 Regional Planner will administer to more than 20 counties in the northwest part of the state. Albrecht described the job as helping with DNR’s outreach and strategic planning. She will work out of the Bemidji DNR offices.
