:reporter;Preview: Chicago Blackhawks vs. Minnesota Wild

No. 3. Chicago Blackhawks

vs. No. 4 Minnesota Wild

 :coffee:............
Story line: The Blackhawks and Wild meet for the second consecutive time in the postseason, but the Wild are a better team than they were a year ago.

Goaltending: Chicago's Corey Crawford (4-2, 1.98, .935) vs. Minnesota's Darcy Kuemper (3-1, 2.03, .913) or Ilya Bryzgalov (1-2, 4.25, .826). The status of Kuemper is crucial going into the Game 1. He has played well for the Wild, but he had to leave Game 7 in the third period against Colorado not long after a collision with Matt Duchene. Bryzgalov is experienced, but hasn't been as effective. Meanwhile, Crawford has been among Chicago's best players.

Focal point: You won't beat the Blackhawks unless you can limit the damage causes by Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane. They will probably see plenty of Minnesota defenseman Ryan Suter.

Season-series: 3-1-1 Minnesota. The Blackhawks outscored Minnesota 15-14.

What the Blackhawks want to do: 1. Saddle up and ride hard. The Blackhawks are a fast, dynamic and dangerous offensive team that looked impressive once they got going against a strong St. Louis defense. They scored 13 goals in the last four games. 2. Be sharper on the power play. They were at 15% in the first round and they should be at 20%. If their power play is sharp, the Blackhawks are always a threat to score four goals a game. 3. Stay disciplined; don't allow the Wild too many power-play opportunities. The Blackhawks have more firepower in 5-on-5 situations.

What the Wild want to do: 1. Get strong leadership from veterans such as Mikko Koivu, Zach Parise and Suter to counter the Blackhawks' championship experience. Parise, in particular, knows what it takes to reach the Stanley Cup Final because he was there with the New Jersey Devils. Parise was a kingpin in the Wild's first-round triumph over Colorado. He had 10 points in seven games. 2. Continue to get strong defensive play. They gave up 24 shots per game in the first round. It's too much to expect that against the Blackhawks. But they need to keep the shots against near 30. 3. Get all hands on deck. The Wild can't win this series unless they get scoring up and down the lineup. It should be noted that Minnesota has more scoring depth than most fans realize.

Injuries: Blackhawks, none disclosed; Wild, G Nicklas Backstrom (abdominal surgery) out for the season, G Josh Harding (multiple sclerosis) indefinitely, G Kuemper (undisclosed) no information available.

Forecast: The Blackhawks have 41 playoff wins from 2010 to present. They know how to win. The Wild have eight playoff wins in the past decade. They are still learning. Take the Blackhawks in five games. :happy1:

Wild out shoot the Hawks 17-4 in the second period but give up another pp goal!  Wild own the 2nd period and are really laying the body to the Hawks. Should be an interesting 3rd period coming up.. Hawks 2 Wild zero..

Wild score two to tie the game in the third but Hawks score three more to win it 5-2 sweet back hand by Kane to make it 3-2 and then a gift to go 4-2 and a open net for the final. Hawks up one game to none but the Wild were in this one and the final score does not do the game justice

With a game-changing move, Patrick Kane makes sure Chicago doesn't drop its series opener to Minnesota.

Don't you guys just love Patrick Kane. I mean come on now

Sunday afternoon rematch, going to be the only nice day of the week so perhaps I will have a tailgate party on the deck. Fire up the grill, do some brats and have a couple of ice cold Hamms, easy enough just have to pull them out of the snow bank. Of course I will have a TV on and be wearing my shorts ( with long underwear)   :happy1:

Anyone else see the stitch job on Charlie Coyle? cut from his lip to the bottom of his chin, 15 stitches has got to slow you down and must feel great when anyone hits you anywhere close to the head...

CHICAGO (AP) Chicago Blackhawks center Andrew Shaw is questionable for Game 2 of the Western Conference semifinals against the Minnesota Wild on Sunday because of a lower body injury.

Coach Joel Quenneville said Saturday he doesn't expect Shaw to be out for an extended period.

Shaw was injured in Friday's series-opening win; it was not clear when he was hurt.

He left the bench and missed the final eight minutes of the first period. The Blackhawks announced at the start of the second that he would not return.

Shaw had two goals and two assists in Chicago's first-round series against St. Louis.

Chicago Blackhawks fans now have a pizza to brag about.

FOX Sports

MAY 04, 2014

Chicago Blackhawks fans now have a pizza to brag about.

Chicago and pizza go hand in hand. So what better way to support the Chicago Blackhawks than with a cheesy likeness?

Punky's Pizza and Pasta in Chicago has come up with the ultimate fan meal.

Overall it looks like a pretty good version of the mascot and definitely tasty.

There are a few rules though.

According to the pizza joint's manager, who is also the genius behind the idea, you can only buy this special pie on game days and it comes whole, not cut into slices, in case you need that pizza-selfie.

"We don't want to ruin the opportunity for them to take their picture with it," Punky's owner Vince Scarlata told DNAinfo Chicago.

Scarlata said they sold 20 of the pies on Friday.

"We're just doing it for the fun of it, and we're doing it to show our support for the Blackhawks more than anything," said Scarlata.

The pizza, which sells for $18.95, is topped by mozzarella cheese, plus black olives used for the logo's hair and eye and peppers representing its multi-colored feathers and earring.

That is so racist that it makes people ill to their stomach. It is almost as bad as fielding a Vikings team without a Norwegian on the roster.

Blackhawk takes puck to throat, can't talk, will still play

It's common knowledge that professional hockey players are tough, but sometimes it borders on crazy.

Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Niklas Hjalmarsson took a puck to the throat in Sunday's game against the Minnesota Wild when he blocked a puck coming off a Wild snapshot.

The hit was bad enough that Hjalmarsson hasn't been cleared to speak yet, but that's not stopping him from playing in Game 3, according to the Chicago Tribune.

According to NHL.com, Hjalmarsson wore a throat guard while participating in Tuesday's morning skate.

And he's got the backing of his coach and team. Coach Joel Quenneville said that not speaking won't be too much of a problem.

Teammate Johnny Oduya pointed out the real reason Hjalmarsson won't be missing a beat, and what we've all been thinking:

"He's a tough character. He's a Swedish Viking. He's one of a kind,
