Bucket list trip....

Ever since a kid Ive wanted to go moose hunting.  Have applied in Mn as a resident years ago, and many years in ND but have never drawn a tag.  Last month a opportunity to go moose hunting in Newfoundland...needless to say jumped on the opportunity.   What a great week!  Moose steaks and sausage this winter ice fishing!!  Prob next year also...

Fawk they all look that way ? from their diet? Beeker,  There are so many moose shot in newfoundland that you can have it shipped by a semi right to Eagen,MN for a few hundred....hopefully it will be the weekend of the ice fishing show Ive always wanted to go to.
DDS it took 3 guys, 2 ATV's about 3 hours.  I asked the guide before I shot if he thought we could get it out...he said no problem..Ha!  Like cutting up a cow!   One guy shot his and his wife also shot one right near the road.  Mine was about 2 miles off road.

More on the trip... got my moose so had to find other things to do..fishing season was closed ( brook trout and atlantic salmon are all they have to fish for other than salt water stuff)   I could buy a bear tag over the counter..my guide's son had been hunting and baiting a nice bear for over a month..had hunted sunday for the last time and it came in but wouldn't show itself to him again..  sound familiar?  Wade  had come out on monday (canada thanksgiving) and offered to let me use his stand, as he was done, he was trying to get a bear as a friend wanted the meat.  I told him if I got one the meat was his.   Went and got some honey, rebaited his site with 3 5 gallon pails of moose fat and scraps, did a honey burn... one night of sitting..view of the bait site from the blind.

if you next post a picture of the muskox you took after the bear i think i'm going to need to get a name a number and a price tag

No Muskox in Newfoundland..sorry but my buddy got a nice woodland caribou on the trip.... I was offered the tag but gave it to him...thats still on my bucket list!  So might go back some day! Im back on the list for a woodland caribou.

As I had tagged out early went grouse hunting...didnt have a shotgun so hunted newfie style (its Legal)...a rabbit snare on a fresh cut sapling...got one spruce grouse.
