I was in Northern Mn. last weekend and the temp Sun. morning was 20 degrees.  The water in the minnow buckets froze over night.  The predictions for this winter are for a repeat or worse than last year.  Heavy snows from last year came too soon after freeze up  so the slush was a huge problem all winter.  Let's pray we hit the deep freeze before any big snow fall.  I can handle cold, the snow I can live without.

Bring the ice. Brown christmas makes for easy deliveries during my busiest time of the year.

Sunday morning I was in a deer stand over looking a small beaver pond.  At sunrise, the pond was open water.  As the morning progressed, I watched the ice slowly form from the southern edge across the pond.  By the time I left the stand around 11:30, the pond was 3/4 covered with ice.  This was the first time I ever watch ice form on a pond.  Some might think that's as exciting as watching paint dry but it was really cool to see.
