Had mine to be serviced and when i picjked it up he asked if i had a winter kit installed. Nope i said. wth  is that i askd. Its an install made by honda to prevent moister from freezin up in the breather tube and crank case. If someone could google winter kit for honda generators it really tell the story. 150.00 bucks installed. But cheaper to buy on line and do it urself or bri g the part to a service tec.

Sounds like a gimmick to me.  I've run mine in the rain, snow, freezing wind snow, take a pee and it's frozen before it hits the ground temps and have never needed this add on.

How about you just give me the $150 and I kick you in the  :moon: so hard you have to clear your throat before you fart. ;)

The biggest thing is get it off the ice as the excaust melts the ice around the generator. Other then that keeep a eye on it when the wind and snow are blowing Never heard of that kit is it for the newest ones?

LOL!think im good on the throat clearing end of it. On the other end of it, one can pick one up on ebay for 60 bucks and do it yur self. watch now G, it will freeze up this year. At the same time these units were not created for the appliction were use them for. watch on othere forums on how many hondas are gona have trouble this season once it gets cold. its just got me thinking. 1000.00 dollar unitto have an 150.00 possible insurance policy, cant hurt anything. just saying. Merry Christmas everyone!!

I run Hondas  and am way happy with them. I do have some stories over the years with the generators. One year it was a blizzard out there .I had told my customers to hunker down and do not come to shore. Bob and Tammy and there two friends decided different. Kellie the wife and I went to westwind and they were there. The Girl with Bob and Tammy told Kellie it was my job to get them back to the shack. Boy did that piss Kellie off. I ended up escorting them back out there .The generator was running two houses. When we arrived the lights were flickering. I checked in with the guys in minnesota and they were hunkered down. They said somthing is wrong with the power I went to investigate and the 3 sided box with generator was incased in snow and barly running. We dug it out and the guy with Bob and Tammy said lets put it in my van. Great idea I thought. When I came out the next morning the exchaust had complettly frozen all the windows from the inside from moisture  Too funny
