Wow...spent the day over in WI on the Kinni. Man what a day. I think I am in love with fly-fishing and I didn't even catch a fish! :)

We fished from 10 - 2pm. Walked about 2 miles of the river and didn't catch anything. When we approached the deep holes along the edges we would see fish scatter. They seemed to be very spooky. Worked some areas that looked good very hard but just couldn't get anything to go.

After I left at 2, my buddy stuck around and fished some more. Found out from some guys that they were catching fish. He added some wait to a prince and quickly caught 7 fish in one area that we had already hit.

I'm heading back in the AM! I got the itch ;D

Here is a brown trout from today....They were running a little small but its a fish!

I've fished this same are a lot, it's one of the better spots in the area.

It's an absolute blast, we always use ultralights instead of A fly rod, works just the same for this type of fishing.

Never been to sconni but trying fly fishing (my with UL) last year around Red Wing...  Will be back later this spring to try it again...  I guess my buddys have a spot that can't be touched by humans, except for the land owners.  Good thing is one of our buddies is married to the daughter of the landowners.  :-X  :)

I just started getting into fly fishing but i havent done it for trout. I have a cabin in Centuria Wisconsin on Long Lake and i can go out in the 12' and just cast on top of the lilly pads well try to get right next to them and just slam the sunnies and crappies it is a lot of fun. I enjoy it alot. End of summer to early fall thats all they will bite on is a little spider fly and it is awsome.

Hey all!
Yeah, running micro-splitshot to get those nymphs down in the deeper runs during the early season is definately the ticket.
There have been reports of some good midge hatches on WI's west-central waters too.
Kudos to Tim and others...this is a very nifty site!
Glad to be here!

Welcome to the site 7pines. I checked out your link to the resort and I may have to take the wife up there soon. It looks fantastic. Fly fishing has always intrigued me, but I've never done it before. Thanks for the report mayfly. Sounds like it was a lot of fun.
Here's to a long life and a merry one.

Hey Joe,
Thanks for the ol' "welcome aboard!"  Good to be here.  Great site that's off to a tremendous start!
Yes, you and your wife'd have a super time there.  Very nice and it's like stepping back in time.  The stream (like most all midwest streams) fishes really well right through about mid-June.  July and August is great too, but the hatches come off in the early a.m. and evening.
It's a good piece of water to introduce folks to the sport.  It's what you'd call "intimate" water...you can spit across a few slim sections, but it does harbor some awfully nice fish!
Here are a few pics of some good ones we picked up the last couple of Saturdays.
