:reporter;  Adrian Peterson's NFL  future remains in limbo.

March 19, 2015

Minnesota Vikings general manager Rick Spielman reportedly told Peterson's agent, Ben Dogra, the club wouldn't release the superstar running back, according to USA TODAY's Tom Pelissero.

Peterson wants out of Minnesota, but he's still under contract with the Vikings through 2017.

If #Vikings were going to cut Peterson and get nothing, it would've happened in September. They want to keep him. AP still has concerns.

The 2012 NFL MVP was suspended indefinitely after being indicted on child abuse charges, missing every game except for the team's season opener against the St. Louis Rams.

Peterson was reinstated February 26, and reportedly wants to play for either the Arizona Cardinals or Dallas Cowboys.

The only way Peterson can leave the Vikings is via trade, or if the team opts to release him, an avenue that's reportedly been closed by team management.

In his last full season in 2013, Peterson rushed for 1,266 yards and 10 touchdowns.

he just needs to stop whining, he did it to himself and the Vikings had been nothing but supportive, I mean they paid him his fully salary last year when they didn't have to., and I like the vikinga stance on this and that is play for us or play for no one.

If they trade him my guess is it will happen this week during the NFL owners meetings. All the head coaches, GM's and owners will be together in Phoenix for the meetings so if any team is interested it will give them a chance to meet face to face and work out a deal.

they wont trade him. the only team that can even remotely afford his contract is Arizona. he will be in purple, after they restructure his contract and give him more guaranteed money. money heals all wounds even though he did it to himself

so AP might be on the move after all. I have a friend on the inside and it sounds like a trade could be in the works to ship him to Atlanta. no info on what they could be getting though. I guess we will all know soon enough

we have a QB his name is teddy bridgewater, he took the Vikings to a 7-9 record without Peterson and half the offense hurt last year. very bright future,  another year in the system with a new shiney receiver in mike Wallace. we don't need a QB for a very long time now.

Throw teddy in the mix for their QB and some offensive linemen who can block.

If Peterson, who has a 2015 base salary of $12.75 million, is so displeased that he declines to show up for Vikings offseason workouts, it could cost him as much as $322,920. He initially could lose a workout bonus of $250,000 he has for spring activities, which begin April 20.

If Peterson is absent at Minnesota's mandatory minicamp in June, the NFL collective bargaining agreement would allow him to be fined up to $12,155 for missing one day, $24,300 for a second day and $36,465 for a third. That's a total of $72,920.  :doah:

lee its that fine for everyday that he misses. so it could cost him much more. if he sits out past week 10 this year then the whole year wont count towards free agency in 2018. he wouldn't be a free agent unil 2019 then

I'm sure they have at least one lineman better then we have and a far better qb.  Peterson and teddy send them on their way if it mean we can have matty ice.

matty chokes on ice? ill gladly pass on him, just another tony romo, has good regular season stats, cant win when it matters and hardly ever gets into the play offs and when he does he chokes. VS a up and coming QB that played pretty well his rookie season and has nothing but a upside unless his line gets him killed first

Sounds like Payton Manning, but I'd trade Teddy for him in a second too.  Being smart enough to read a defense as a QB is the most important thing and like a good hunting dog "they either have it or they don't".  Teddy did show some bright spots (that fabulous touch pass for a TD to Jennings comes to mind).  However even when provided with time he was consistently missing easy throws or missing the right read.  How many games in a row did he go without throwing a TD pass again?  I'd take a Brad Johnson, Trent Dilfer, Matty Ice, Joe Flaco types any day of the week.  The defense and the coach is what gave us the record we had.

P.S. Atlanta lost 5 starting Linemen last year to season ending injuries and I'm guessing rookie left tack Jake Matthews is going to be a stud.  So to say they have a worse line then the Viks shouldn't really be based off of last year.  I'm sure their makshift line was probably a little worse then our starters.

Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson will find out his football future on Wednesday, which is the league’s reinstatement date for the rusher.

4/13/15

If Peterson is reinstated after a seven-month exile, the activity will begin on where he will continue his career.

According to Matt Vensel of the Star-Tribune, this week should begin the road back to the gridiron for Peterson, where ever that may finally be.

Vensel writes:

'Given the circumstances that led to his suspension, the lingering animosity between Peterson and the franchise that drafted him seventh overall in 2007, the caliber of the player, the value of his contract and the track record of his most formidable future opponent — Father Time — this standoff has been unlike any other in NFL history.'
