Does anyone here do knife quality sharpening? I'm looking to get a few hunting knifes sharpened.
I've tried doing it myself in the past and I'm not good at it, must not have the patience.

If you do offer a service of knife sharpening, send me a message on what your fee is and what kind of turnaround you have.

Or if somebody knows of anyone in the Brainerd lakes area who does it, let me know.

a few years back at the gun/game show there was always a booth where a guy would sharpen knives for 1$ a piece he would use a polishing wheel and a cardboard wheel. did a good job.

so if there are any shows planned in your area this fall.. could be worth a visit

Buy yourself one of the chef choice knife sharpeners.  They are pretty nice.

I use the Lansky sharpening system and it works well. It works better if you stabilize the clamp in a vise or screw it to a bench. A good knife should only need a touch up now and then, depending on use, if properly sharpened.

Years ago I bought one of those electric ones where you draw the knife through the rotating wheels.  It still works great to this day.  Works on almost any knife and they end up very sharp with a great edge.  Wouldn't want to try anything else.

I grew up with a father as a meat cutter/Butcher.I worked in high school summers as a boner then cuttin deer till a few years ago as Part time for extra $$ at local meat shop. The best way I can see for you to get yer knives sharpened is go to your local meat market,NOT cub or groceries a real meat shop.
Ask them if you can include your knives in their sharpening send off to a sharpener. You'll get a perfect 25 degree angle on the blades,Then you should learn to use a stone and steel to keep the edge in condition. Its pretty easy once you learn how to use a stone an steel.
I live a ways away but if your in the area stop on by I'm sure I can put a fine edge on any blade you have in a short time. The commercial sharpening even for me is a must to get that perfect angle to make hand sharpening easier. It dont cost much for what you get!
