    • Fishing & Hunting South Dakota's Lake Oahe and Lake Sharpe
When the weather is good usually so is the fishing around Pierre on Sharpe but Oahe continues to be on again off again. I guided the Bill Boettgler group to nice limits on Sharpe then took out Tom Ellis and wife from Casper again catching nice walleye and finished the week with a group of guys Ramrodded by Greg Geeneogh from over around Gillette WY for two days of limits of walleye's on Sharpe. All these fish were healthy 18 inch average size walleye that we caught by either pulling flicker shad plugs or with bottom/bouncer minnow or jig minnow presentations. I had a great time guiding all of these groups and hope to see them again in the future. The bite on Sharpe around Pierre is very good when conditions are right but can be off if weather(wind) creating dirty water or current the corps is running is either too slow or too fast. For this reason I will call the over all bite in our area as spotty on Sharpe and the same on Oahe with the fall bite not really in full swing on the big lake. Smallmouth fishing is still decent in depths of 30 fow and most walleye coming in are in 10 to 15 fow on Oahe with jig/minnows the bait of choice. The bird opener was very good around Pierre however warm weather was a factor along with most crops still standing so some groups experienced tougher hunts. Once the harvest gets done everyone should get great shooting. As the season winds down I will continue to do reports however on a less frequent basis. I will also continue to do weekly video's for Lindner Media Angling Buzz if that will help you plan trips etc.
