    • Fishing & Hunting South Dakota's Lake Oahe and Lake Sharpe
Weather sums up the report as far as fishing go's around Pierre. There are a few die hard fishermen out and they are doing well on Sharpe but snow has arrived shutting down most boat traffic. I am sure after this storm gets wound down there will be boats out for the last of the open water fishing for the year with most of the guide work centering on hunters in the area wanting to take some walleye home along with their birds. Jig/minnows along with pulling flicker shad pugs are the choice for most guides that are out. 10 fow seems to be the average on Sharpe. Just haven't heard much on Oahe and now with the snow boat rams accessing places like the Cheyenne river are real tough to use so unless we get some real turn around weather the fishing on the big lake is waiting for ice. If fishing make real sure to have the additives in boat gas and trimming motors up and down after fishing along with making sure you don't have any water in oil in lower units is a must as failing to do so can be real costly. Bird hunting around our area is late season requiring blockers as birds are grouped up and for the most part wilder now. Having a lot of guns and dogs and surrounding area's produce's the best results. There are plenty of birds yet but they are much harder to hunt especially on public ground. I hope every one had a great Thanksgiving and will take this opportunity to wish all a great Christmas season.
