                    Lake Geneva in S/E Wisconsin

This is the lake I guide on during open water season. Yesterday was the Winter Fest and folks were able to find some free parking.

This is an email that Tactics  received today from the DNR in regards to a vehicle going through the ice. I live in Lake Geneva and saw the cars go in the lake yesterday afternoon. I was not aware of all of this, so I thought I'd share it with you. Tight lines guys and gals! Ryan- There were 15 vehicles that went through the ice yesterday. No one was issued any citations. The law allows for a vehicle to be submerged for up to 30 days. After the 30th day they could be fined daily for not removing the vehicle. Cars do not pose much of an environmental impact. Fuel tanks and motors are sealed pretty good and do not discharge a whole lot when under water. The owners of the vehicles are responsible for their own tow expense. The cost of the tow and the potential loss of vehicle is expensive enough. Most insurance companies do not cover vehicles that go through the ice. The applicable law is s. 287.81 (2)(c), Wis. Stats, on Littering. 2) Except s provided in sub. (3), a person who does any of the following may be required to forfeit not more than $500: c) Fails to remove within 30 days or otherwise abandons any automobile, boat or other vehicle in the waters of the state.
