Walleye fishing continues to be consistent with most getting limits. Drifting on sand flats in the right wind, anchoring near or on rock piles and jigging, and of course pulling cranks in the basin this time of year in 28-32 feet all have been producing fish. Some big walleyes (28" and over) being caught daily. Lake of the Woods gold continues to be a mainstay color of choice along with secondary colors such as pink, white and silver.

On the Rainy River some nice eater eyes pulled during those windy days where the big lake is bouncy. Many anglers pulling cranks and spinners  Nice walleye and bass bite in various spots up and down the river. Sturgeon are active and good numbers being boated, many not by choice by walleye anglers. Sturgeon "keep" season is now open through Sep. 30.
Up at the NW Angle, bottom bouncers and spinners with crawlers or minnows, or trolling crankbaits continue to be the go to method around Four Blocks, Little Oak to Oak, and Garden Island in 20-24' of water.  Gold, pink and orange are active colors. Mud is hotter than rocks currently.  In Ontario spinners are the most productive method for walleyes, in areas with structure and deep mud. The muskies were tentative this week with lots of reports of follows on bucktails and not so much topwater baits. Lots of red cabbage around this year which is a favorite of muskie nuts.
