I agree some food plots are very close to baiting.  I guess they feel that if a guy goes through the trouble and expense of developing, planting and maintaining a food plot, that's ok, but it's not ok to just dump a load of feed in the woods.  I think it has to do with benefiting the wildlife for a longer period of time as stated by BOAR.  I have some plots but rarely hunt by them.  Go figure.

Boar, was not implying you did/didn't do anything, or focusing on a specific post, I just don't like bad regulations. And like to make sure everyone knows what is going on. Personally, I have wanted to put in some plots for some time now, but considering that I always seem to have success it doesn't seem worth the effort for the same result. There is also a limit to the dollars that I am willing to spend on this hobby. Well, some day someone with some cash will challenge this in court. Someone else mentioned about two lines for fishing. Yes it does make it more fun. More success? Maybe or maybe not. But would make the sport more enjoyable, which is a good thing right?

Here's my take between it.. Plots take a bit of work and good fortune with enough rain to grow an all the other stuff that goes with growing it. So there's a chance it doesn't come in at all. Baiting on the other hand requires little work and guarentees the food will be there.

I've seen the results of what baiting can do even alongside of 200 acres of standing corn, they hit those piles regardless. Years ago(5 tag year) 4 guys took 16 deer over bait by that field. I thought they were just great archers until rifle came around and I found 2 shellcorn bags blowing in the wind by their stands. I warned them never again or you will be turned in and I will tell the farmer we both have permission from. Asked can I even legally hunt here knowing there's baited spots ? Yesterday Nov. 3rd, was sent a picture of a bow killed dandy. Thought very nice and later get an update he had 4 bucks at the same feeder so he of course took the biggest one. As far as archery goes vs a food plot it sure would be nice to have that pile at 25 yards vs. wondering where a deer might feed and if he'd ever get in range out in a food plot. As I get older trimming shooting lanes is becoming quite the chore, if baiting were legal it sure would be nice to only have to cut 1 good shooting lane ! That would be the plus ! Hmmm. 600,000 Minnesotan's hunt deer yearly by archery, gun, muzzy, that's a lot of piles lol ! Instead of watching storage wars you could watch baiting wars.

My best friend recently gave me all of his North Dakota Outdoors magazines and be a little careful lumping ND in as a baiting is legal state. It said no baiting is allowed on state lands or waterfowl production lands etc. etc. It sounded to me like only on private property it seemed and it sounded like they'd like to do away with it completely. There's a CWD zone to no baiting allowed of course. Good Luck this weekend if you're a zone 2 guy we're nearing the end ! If you're a zone 1 guy enjoy next weeks major weather change, should be some movement in legal light then.
