If they were there filming it I doubt it was a spontaneous collapse. I have worked on beaver dams for 40 years and they are tough. Removing some key pieces on a structure that size would allow the additional pressure from a heavy rain to overload the dam. It was impressive in the amount of water running and the increase of the water level in the lower pond.

WOW!!!!!!! thats crazy! would love to know where in northern minnesota that happened.

i agree with ya Ray, those dams are amazingly tough. we have a little beaver dam between the 2 lakes by the cabin. i've messed with that alot and its only roughly 2 ft wide and what it takes to unwind the crap they use to build it quite the task!!!!!!!!
