We saw bitterly cold temps this weekend -45 with the windshield. The cold front has slowed the fishing down considerably this weekend. Guys were still catching walleye, but the bite has slowed down.
Fishing should recover later this week when the temps settle into the single digits.

I saw a limit of crappies on Thursday night come off of JR's access just before the cold moved in.

Fisherman should start to bring the extensions along, especially if you are fishing for crappie on rough ice.


There is a three person sleeper available next
weekend for $150 a night.

I was scouting for crappies last night.  I didn't get out until dusk, only managed one walleye.  The triangle was at full power last night. 

The pressuere ridge is once again active on the south shore, no bridge yet. 

Extensions are needed.  The season should last through March this year with all the ice.

it's tough work that scouting, aint it
I got so nuts one night, I didn't stop drilling until 4 in the morning and finaly laid my weary bones to rest in the six point lodge at 5:45
just to get up at 9:00, not feeling all that great, we went in to have breakfast.
the later it got the worse I felt.
I led a group of guys into a mother load of fish, but I felt like crap and by 8:00 pm that night I couldnt hardly stand it.
if it wasnt for my brother to drive home, I'da never made it.
by the time I got home, I had a temp of 104.
that pretty much cured me from the all night late night excursions wandering around out on the ice.
