Vikes' Peterson names possible landing spots.

 Brace Hemmelgarn, USA TODAY Sports

 :reporter; ..
Vikes' Peterson names possible landing spots Minnesota Vikings running Adrian Peterson named the teams he would be most interested in playing for if he is not back with the Vikings in 2017.

The New York Giants, Houston Texans and Tampa Bay Buccaneers were the teams he mentioned as possible landing spots.

But Peterson said during an appearance on ESPN Thursday his first choice remains to stay in Minnesota.

 :coffee:
"I see myself in purple. A lot has to take place," Peterson said. "I see myself finishing off in purple. It is a business at the end of the day, so with that, things could end up differently. ... Hopefully we can work things out.”

Peterson, 31, has spent 10 seasons with the Vikings. Minnesota has a team option on his contract for the 2017 season.

 :bs: ......
"There's a couple teams out there that I've thought about. ... New York was one of them that popped up, Tampa Bay, lot of different teams. Houston would be a good spot," Peterson said. "I'll stop right there. ... I'm just throwing random names out there." :whistling:

Well the Vikings are not taking Petersons 2017 option which was predictable.  I don't see him staying here.  He may get payed more by another team.  I see the Vikings picking up a free agent and or draft a running back.  good luck.

For 2 or 3 mil a year maybe I would let him stick around.  I think that would be too much of a slap in the face for him.  Someone else will pay more I think.  SO I hope to hear some good trade rumors in the next few days...

I just joined this site and being from Iowa I forgot this might be a good place to talk some vikings football! Like any state in the union Iowa is about 45% pack fans. Sure felt good to see them get throttled by the falcons

Anyway I agree with another poster, any more than a few mil on our roster and he is overpaid. The nature of the game is partly to blame... a pure, meat and potatoes bruiser style running back just isn't in demand anymore. The REAL good ones, like David Johnson or DeMarco Murray are doing it all - playing 3 downs  every series, pass blocking, catching passes, and you have guys like LeVeon Bell and Lashawn McCoy even lining up in the slot.

Let's look at AP's "versatility":

-He either can't or won't pass block effectively

-He consistently fumbles at the WORST TIMES due to staying on his feet and fighting too long

-He refuses to run out of anything but the BS power-I and totally refuses to run out of the shotgun (Which made it REAL tough on a young Bridegwater or any new qb)

- His pass catching ability is mediocre at the very best

-Between nagging injuries and seriously banged up knees, he is on the verge of being truly injury prone.

LeVeon Bell is 25 years old, and regularly puts up well over 100+ yards rushing a game and usually is knocking on 100 or better in receiving, and he only gets paid $12M as a franchise tag now. What on earth makes AP think he's worth 18 mil? Also it just so happens for another year of Bradford at the helm is going to cost us like $17m total I think...so its just math.

Don't get me wrong, we got a great decade of football out of AP in a time where the average lifetime of an NFL rb is like 3-4 years tops. I thank him for his service but it's clear for what he wants and what he has to offer, he is no longer a good fit. After the whole child abuse thing went down and the Vikes front office didn't blink at paying him $600,000+ a week to do nothing, he ought to be singing a different tune than demanding 18 mil.

All I gotta say is thanks for the memories AP, and please don't wear green.

Sorry LPS, I gave up on the Queenies over 30 years ago. I don't dislike them, only time I cheer against them is against my Dolphins.........Or when in the same room as my mother watching a game.  :rotflmao: she bleeds purple and gold. Shoulda saw the look on her face when I walked in with my Farve jersey that first game as a Viking!!! But win or lose, my day is the same when it comes to the purple..
