I hope this doesn't irritate anyone.  I called Matt Grossell my state Rep. and I emailed Collin Peterson my Congressman.  I told them that since the DNR says they need more money that I would be willing to help out.  I will gladly pay an extra $10 per season to be able to use 2 lines whether anchored or trolling.

Matt Grossell's phone # is:  651-296-4265

Collin Peterson's phone # is:  218-847-5056  Detroit Lakes office.

Just in case anyone is interested.

I don't see issues with 2 lines. I ain't paying 10 bucks to do it just cause the DNR may need more cash.  They could easily trim fat.

I'm all for it LPS!! I feel guilty sending it to a state official tho! My disabilities warrant a free fishin license and I take advantage of that, so I feel I should have no say.I do hope it can get passed!!

Guys I believe my state senator Mr. Lang has already authored this, or co authored this.....not sure how far it got. He had the paperwork in his hand last time I  was at the capital to meet with DNR a month ago.

I know it has been brought up before but I want it to happen so thought if I mentioned it again it may help.  If $10 is too much to spend for a whole year of using an extra line then don't buy the extra line option.  You can still call in to help get it approved for the rest of us without spending the extra $10.  Would appreciate it very much....  If you don't want to buy the extra line option you don't have to.  Myself it seems like a no brainer to me.

When I lived in Stillwater and fished the St. Croix it was great to use two lines per person to troll cranks.  It was only two of us.  That way we could each use two different colors and see which one worked.  We still could only catch a limit so what the heck.....  Same on SD and ND borders and in their states.  Their fishing is as good as ours so it is not hurting the fisheries.

SO if you don't mind call the numbers above and tell them or your area Rep that you want to see this happen.  Would be appreciated.  All of the states around us do it so why not us.   Thanks much all of you.  I will also help get your projects passed.

Yep already get them. I'm actually in pretty close contact with Senator Lang. Met with him twice in the last 6 weeks up in St. Paul, along with several phone calls and email. He has been helping the MN Taxidermy Guild work with the DNR on some issues. Good guy with some common sense and seems to be willing to work for the people who elected him

Hi Auggie.  I would appreciate it if you let him know a "friend" of yours is trying to get this going again and that I contacted Grossell and Peterson.  Let me know if there is anything else I can do.   Just to blow my horn a little.  After Boar let me shoot his crossbow I got one too and shot a bear with it.  First time I ever shot anything with an arrow.  What a thrill.  I then contacted Roger Ericson who was our Rep at the time.  I asked him if maybe the crossbow could be legalized for all of us over 60.  That was in April.  By Sept it was already approved.  Man did that make me feel like maybe all of the politicians aren't just drawing a check and doing nothing.  I have had shoulder ops and no way am I going to pull a bow back...

but everyone can fish with 2 lines in the winter.......the spear is considered one line!!!!!!

again I am not opposed to 2 lines..........I am opposed to paying for it!!!!!!! do other states charge for an extra line during soft water???? its the principle of it for me. especially if the goal is to collect more money!!!!!!!!!

I haveta agree with that, Glenn. Land of 10,000 lakes, where a large part of the state income is tourism/fishing, and one of the few states that only allow two lines.....

Ya I agree that it should just be legal to use 2 lines year around.  Just thought that with the $10 bribe (and that is what it is) that maybe it would have a better chance of happening.

I'll ask him where it's at when we speak again. Pretty sure it has been introduced already and is going through the process. And believe me, anytime it has something to do with the DNR, expect it to be slow and painful. If it's not their idea they don't want to hear it. I'm guessing the ball was rolling on the crossbow issue long before you ever contacted your rep if it went through that quickly.
The session is over in May. We have been working on our issues since late last summer and have moved forward at a snails pace and about all we have really accomplished is a longer time line to try and work through the existing problem with current law. Commen sense solutions should not take this long to figure out!!!

The two line deal is pretty simple cut and dried common sense in my opinion. The limit is the limit. Whether I catch it on one line or two, it's still the limit. Many times if the fish are biting two lines are a pain anyway. If the fish are not biting I can't see it changing the overall catch much anyway.
So why not let people fish with two? But like I said before, if it's not the idea of the almighty DNR they don't want to hear it.

I've been wanting the two lines for a long time.  I'm willing to pay extra for it.  I probably wont use the two line's most of the time but I would like that option.  good luck.

There are a number of lakes in MN where the harvest us close to, or over, the sustainable level.  One line IA just another way to reduce harvest.   Banning Spears would be another.
