Former Vikings RB Adrian Peterson wanted out in 2015, wants to 'stick it to them' in Week 1

 :reporter; .....
Saying Saints running back Adrian Peterson is excited to take on his former team, the Vikings, in Week 1 may be a bit of an understatement.

“Of course I want to stick it to them," Peterson told the Minneapolis Star Tribune. "I want to stick it to everyone we play. But going back to Minnesota, playing the Vikings? Yeah, I want to stick it to them.”

Peterson had some great and rough moments in 10 seasons with the Vikings, ranging from a season in which he finished 9 yards short of the single-season rushing record, to one in which he missed 15 games while dealing with claims of child abuse in 2015.

He maintains that he is not a child-abuser and that it was a simply a difference in opinion of how to discipline his 4-year-old son. When the Vikings did not stand up for him and then Minnesota's governor said what he did was "a public embarrassment" to the team and state, Peterson said he knew he wanted out of Minneapolis.

“I voiced my opinion back then,” he said. “The decision to want a change of scenery was due to what transpired two years ago.”

It took him another year and another injury for him to get out of Minnesota, and he is now with the Saints, who take on the Vikings on Monday. While "All-Day" is expected to have a complementary role with the Saints this season rather than be the team's featured back, New Orleans right tackle Zach Strief expects big things from Peterson.

“What do I expect from Adrian on Monday night?” Strief asked. “I expect him to be very ready to go for Minnesota. Very, very ready to go.” :angry2:

Man I sure hope we start the season on the right foot and beat the Saints.  My fingers will be crossed.  It is the early of the two Monday night games so starts at 6.  Those games that start at 9 on a week night are brutal for a working man.

Well don't piss her off them...   :rotflmao:  My wife's go to is the Hallmark channel with all of the perfect people.  I call it Hallmark porn.  When she asks me if I am going fishing I just look at her and we both break out laughing.  I know she wants to watch "her" channel and I can't keep my mouth shut trying to be funny when it is on...  At least I think I am funny doing my narrating...  :happy1:

He maintains that he is not a child-abuser and that it was a simply a difference in opinion of how to discipline his 4-year-old son.

From a CBS Article...

The beating allegedly resulted in numerous injuries to the child, including cuts and bruises to the child’s back, buttocks, ankles, legs and scrotum, along with defensive wounds to the child’s hands. Peterson then texted the boy’s mother, saying that one wound in particular would make her “mad at me about his leg. I got kinda good wit the tail end of the switch.”

Peterson also allegedly said via text message to the child’s mother that he “felt bad after the fact when I notice the switch was wrapping around hitting I (sic) thigh” and also acknowledged the injury to the child’s scrotum in a text message, saying, “Got him in nuts once I noticed. But I felt so bad, n I’m all tearing that butt up when needed! I start putting them in timeout. N save the whooping for needed memories!”

Everyone gets their own opinion - and the courts have settled - but I do not agree that beating a four year-old child bloody with a stick is simply a difference in opinion when it comes to parental discipline versus child abuse.

...then Minnesota's governor said what he did was "a public embarrassment" to the team and state.

Minnesota governors in general, and this governor in particular, have a habit of saying stupid things.  I can almost accept the notion that Peterson's actions might reflect badly on the Vikings or even the State of Texas (where he is from), but they have nothing to do with Minnesota or Minnesotans.  Mostly Peterson't actions reflect badly on him; whether he will admit it or not.

When the Vikings did not stand up for him ... Peterson said he knew he wanted out of Minneapolis.

Funny, he wasn't saying that when he was on Roger Goodell's "Special Exemption" for most of the 2015 season and he was still cashing Ziggy's weekly paychecks.
