A guy I know has some suckling pigs.  Maybe 20 lbers.  He is going to gut them, scald them and scrape them.  I am getting one for Christmas if the wife will let me.  :rotflmao:  She isn't sure she is into baking a baby pig.  I have seen them on TV at some Spanish eatery and they look great.  He has looked online I guess and has seen them selling for $325.  OUCH!!!  That wouldn't fly with me.  I asked what he is going to sell them for dressed, scalded, scraped and frozen.  He wants $125 ea.  Still a lot of money but I said I would start getting the word out for him....

OOOWEE Thats outragiously priced!!! Especially if the farmer dont want to feed em all winter.Altho they are hard to get cause once raised to full weight going prices can be had.Weened 30-40 lbers are easier to come by at about 1-2 bucks a lb live weight.Aint looked at market prices recently BUT The farmer makes nothing incomparison to the chain following that sale!!!!!!!!

Ya it is a lot of money.  I really didn't know how to react when he said the price.  Yes the gutting scalding, and scraping is time consuming and is worth something.  I was thinking say $50.  So you end up with 10 - 12 lbs at $4 or $5 a lb.  A novelty thing.  He saw that online one for $335 ea. and that threw it all out of wack.
