:reporter; 4th shark found frozen off Cape Cod

A fourth frozen thresher shark has been found off Cape Cod, the Cape Cod Times reported.
The animal was discovered New Year’s Eve in the ice pack off Wellfleet, but extreme high tides and unstable ice conditions were keeping shark researchers from getting to the carcass, Michelle Wcisel, program director for the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy, told the paper.

Three other frozen sharks were found in the area last week -- one in Wellfleet, one in Brewster and another in Orleans. :doah:

The record stretch of bitter cold has sent ocean temperatures in Woods Hole plunging into the 30s and Cape Cod Bay into the low 40s.  :cold:

Scientists believe thresher sharks have difficulty generating their own heat to keep vital organs warm enough to function when in waters colder than 44 degrees for extended periods of time.

Must Be From Global Warming! :tut:
