They are going to have to pay one QB big bucks next year - who ever it is.  The fact that they didn't franchise tag Case simply means they didn't want to pay two QBs.  They still could sign Case, Teddy, or someone else.  Heck, they could probably keep Sam around as a backup if no one else wants to pay him "starters" salary.

The money you save on not franchise tagging a QB could be spent on the offensive or defensive line.  Whereas both lines were improved last year, I think we were a exposed in both respects at the end of last season.

I agree Steve-O, can always use more depth for the O line & D line. I think they'll resign Teddy for decent QB $, I also believe that they will try to resign Case too, but somebody might through a truckload of cash at him, so we'll see. I can't believe that they will give Cousins the kind of money(~$30 mil/yr) that other teams will unless he'll sign for less in order to have a chance to win right away.

Who knows what kind of plan they have brewing.  I did like Case and who knows, he may get better every year.  I am still curious about Bradford.  He is such an accurate passer it is unreal.  I would like to see him have one more year behind a good O line.  Would of course need a good backup in case he goes down.

I think the vikes told him to go shop around and find out what he is worth. Then maybe they will have a talk about salary. I agree with you guys. I guess time will tell. Hard to bank on Teddy when he hasn't played in forever and i like Sam but you just never know about injury. I liked Case and he seemed dependable, Would like to see him back.

Couldn't agree more JB. I think with Mr. B it's not if he goes down but when, so that's the biggest negative with him as far as I'm concerned. As far as Teddy, I don't think many teams are willing to make him the kind of offer that I think we will. I would like to see him have another shot & I think Zimmer feels the same way. Look what Philly did with their $12 mil backup of course Wentz is still in his rookie deal so that played into them given Foles that kind of money. I don't believe that the Vikings want to have $25 mil + in the starter plus another $12-$15 mil or more tied up in the backup. What did Glennon get last year with Lee's Bear? Something like $18 mil, same as Bradford.

I think Ziggy thought they came too close to winning so they are letting the most competent QB they have go to free agent. Our only hope is no one is willing to pay him more than we are offering.

The 49ers were locked into signing Garoppolo to a record deal because they had so much already invested in the trade.  They are all in with this QB.

I think the rest of the teams and QBs are simply keeping their options open for the next couple of weeks to see how things pan out.

Teams want the best value quarterback they can find and afford.  Players want the most money they can get.  Those things take time to sort out.

The only "news" we hear is what the agents and teams leak to the media to improve their own position.

I read the same thing about Bridgewater being a free agent. The bigger fish is said to be Kurt Cousins. Time will tell.......

Just listened to Adam Schefter on Golic & Wingo say he wouldn't be surprised to see Teddy & Keenum both still end up back with the Vikings. He went on to say that he thought the 3 leaders in the Kirk Cousins derby were the Jets, Mn, & the Broncos. It sounded like he thought the Jets had a max offer close to $ 30 mil/ per on the table & the Vikings had offered up $24 mil/per & a chance to win right away. It sounded like both would be 5 year deals.

See where the Jets freed up some more cash for Kirk today. Their RB, Forte, retired & they cut loose a big money D lineman. The guys this mornin had Teddy ending up in Jacksonville & Keenum back with the Vikes for ~$15 mil. They actually said that they thought Elway would be able to talk Cousins into signing with them. We'll see, gettin closer.
