So.... my two plots that I have, one is two years old and one is 4
I have never gotten more than a few stalks out of either. Mine shoots out of the ground, skinny and proceeds to flower out. Every fall, I mow it over. The results never change.

Do you guys cut it all off through the year?

I don't know what I'm doing wrong....

Never cut it,The root needs that energy for next years crop,In spring befor it sprouts then cut an clean its area. Also if it has berries (SEEDS) That plant is female when you buy they send males but they do change sexes,Those berries should be stripped off so energy goes to the root NOT seed production

So I took some asparagus and took my life in my own hands. Wrapped it up in tin foil, seasoned it, put some bacon in top and grilled it. Gotta say was pretty good. Dogs got the bacon though. Had that with fried up norderns!

We wrapped our 12 or or so stalks with a half of strip of bacon each.  Grilled and they were great!
